Happy Friday everyone! Have you all been well? I know the rain has been practically nonstop, which is making Robin’s flowers sing a happy tune but has left poor little Fray a bit... waterlogged. Thankfully we had enough of a reprieve that I was able to get up on the roof and patch all of those leaks in Tailored Fashions. There was kind of an incident that got me thinking - right now we have such a limited choice of our nasal features, don’t we? Well have no fear, I have brought you all six new options with no need to accidentally take a hammer to the face!
You’ll now be able to find the Sharp Nose, Noble Nose, Large Rounded Nose, Large Downward Nose, Hooked Nose, and Button Nose all as common items at my Salon! And don’t worry about the damage inside Tailored Fashions. Now that the roof is fixed, I can come back soon to help Andre work on that expansion he sketched up…
Code Update: 5/18/17
Lots of changes are going on around the site today! We are implementing a lot of updates to the backend, so you may notice some technical difficulties for a short while. If any of your problems persist after about an hour and after clearing your cache, please let us know in the Technical Support Forum!
One major change is the way our User Cheers work, so for all of today, you may not be able to Cheer another user. This should reset to the new system tomorrow, when Cheers are usually reset.
Lycus' experiments were not showing the yellow "Completed" ribbon to differentiate them from normal donated items. This should be fixed with the next experiment!
We've added a "Trade" button to the User Profile page so that you can trade a little easier now!
The Change of Heart will be changing later today to fix an Achievement bug and to remove the Accomplished Personality from any Kith who have used a Change of Heart. Now when you pick a Personality, it will stick permanently! We will be creating an additional "blank slate" item for users who want to have fun restarting their Kith's Personality over and over. This change will go into effect by the end of the day. Please wait until tomorrow if you want to ensure you get one of the fixed Change of Heart items. Anyone who has purchased a Change of Heart previously and wishes to take advantage of this change can Message me with the details (please include the Kith ID and desired Personality).
The Kith image in Stumped should now be working in all major browsers (though there may be some lag when first starting the game based on your network speed). I'll be testing this more throughout the weekend for bugs.
The "Decline" button has been added to Quest pop-ups even when you have all the requirements to complete the Quest.
The [Code] button on the Forums wasn't working, so we've removed it for the time being. We hope to get it back soon, but we don't have an estimated time for its return yet.
The timestamp on Messages has now been changed to reflect CHT, Current Hope Time, based on the site clock in the sidebar. Since this change means we don't really have anything timezone-specific, we've removed that option from the Settings page for the time being.
And finally, a tiny change that brings some big foreshadowing... you now have two additional item categories to help sort through your Inventory, Trades, and Marketplace: Recipes and Patterns. Don't expect that Patterns tab to stay empty for too much longer! ;)
New Recipes: Mushrooms

Well, I am a man of my word. I promised you tadpoles I'd teach you about that old Mushroom Log moldering in your kitchens if anyone showed me a properly-made Golden Apple Smoothie. And since several of you rose to my challenge, I got things ready in a hurry.
The first thing you’re going to need to do is get some plain old Mushrooms. I think you have plenty of them back in Hope if you don't want to wander the forest for any wild seed mushrooms. Then you need either A Kiss, A Sigh, or A Tear to make the delicious Portobello Mushrooms, Cremini Mushrooms, or Shiitake Mushrooms. This process takes the Mushroom Log and as easy as stuffing the ingredients inside the log to let it do its magic.
Once you have made yourself a little collection of fresh fungus, you can make four brand new meals. Some of these star the mushrooms; in others they will be more of a flavor accent. Both the Lentil Quinoa Salad and Mushroom Soup are a good place to start when cooking with mushrooms. They may take a few ingredients but they are fairly easy to get. The Sizzling Quackrometz is a hot dish that takes some skill to prepare, in addition to a well-stocked kitchen. But if you can get it right, it is a fairly fancy dish to show off. And speaking of fancy dishes, well, this last recipe, Stir Fried Mushrooms, only takes two ingredients. But the four leaf clover honey is a pain to not burn. I don't know if the luck in it applies to everything in the world except cooking this dish, but I can remember burning plenty attempts at this dish in my youth. I think it’s something special if you can get it properly golden without burning, and can elevate any dinner menus you have planned.
Hopefully I was able to provide a nice mix of meals here for all kinds of palates. I'm going to mull over what to teach everyone next. You’ve all been doing a good job with what I've been spouting off so I think I might be able to give you a bigger challenge next time.
Code Update: 5/12/17
Another small code update for you all, this time involving the shops:
The cooldown timer will now show your inventory count (how many of an item you already own) and the Preview button (to preview apparel). We've also tweaked the cooldown so that purchases made in the Headmaster's Office shouldn't cause any cooldown.
We've also added the Decline button to Quest pop-ups, so you don't have to flip back to the Quest page in order to Decline an active Quest.
Please note that you may not see this update right away, and the restocking may look a bit strange for the first one or two times after you login. So please only report issues to the Technical Support Forum if they last past about a half hour on your account.

New Recipes: Smoothies!

The spring season always brings with it a growth spike of Stinging Nettles here in the Enchanted Forest, so come visit Elven Cuisine to take advantage of our fresh harvest. While I don’t recommend eating them raw, they can be used in a variety of recipes for those with more adventurous palates. Take a Stinging Mint Smoothie for example: the perfect thing to clear out any allergies you might be experiencing. If you want something a little... easier on the throat I have a few more smoothie recipes I could teach you tadpoles. I’ve been wondering how well Miranda is going to handle the heat once it starts getting hotter. Does Hope have the same kind of summers we do?
I’m not fully sure I understand Hope students’ tastes yet, but I tried to create some smoothies I thought would appeal to you while including our own traditional flavors. On the easier end to make, we have the Strawberry Chocolate Smoothie, Chocolate Hazelnut Smoothie, Zucchini Dandelion Smoothie, and the Rasping Radish Smoothie. Anyone with a bit of experience in the kitchen should be able to make those without too much trouble.
Getting a little more complex, either due to presentation or how to handle the ingredients, we have the Creamsicle Smoothie, Lucky Clover Smoothie, Red Hot Smoothie, and the Avoreal favorite, Seedy Smoothie. You are really going to want to make sure you blend that last one very, very well, or don’t chew any chunks you encounter while drinking.
Finally I have three very special smoothies for those of you who have really dedicated yourself to the craft of cooking. Each one is its own magical experience, because it took literal magic to take you on this journey of flavor. The Good, The Bad, The Berry Smoothie takes all three familiar forest flavors and mixes them into one cup. The Sunset Smoothie is perfect for cooling you off no matter how hot it may be outside. Lastly, the Golden Apple Smoothie will, of course, take a Golden Apple to make, thus making it the most difficult of the smoothies to craft. If you tadpoles can show me a properly made Golden Apple Smoothie, I’ll fish out some more recipes to share. Maybe I’ll haul out Mushroom Log and teach you how to properly seed your own fresh mushrooms.
