Fallen London

Anyone else here that's also a citizen of the Neath? It's a very different game from TW - clothes are for adjusting stats and communication with other players is mainly done on reddit or discord - but I absolutely love the setting and the writing. It is very queer-friendly, and always has been.
It's both steampunk and science fiction, a little bit of gothic horror and a little bit of comedy - the tone can vary quite a lot depending on which skills you choose to use to solve the situations you're faced with. Death is brief, madness frequent. Neither is worse than going to jail, or being exiled to the Tomb-Colonies for crimes against decency.
The main gist of the story is that Victorian era London has been stolen by bats. When your character enters the game London has been subterraneal for about 40 years. The war against the Devils is long over, they're quite a common sight to see and they will be interested in buying your soul. There's also squid-faced Rubbery Men, and talking cats. The Traitor Empress sits in her palace where loud noises are banished.
Then there's the Masters, the aforementioned bats. Mr Pages (my blorbo), Mr Wines (my waifu blorbo), Mr Iron (ambidextrous, mute, terrifying), Mr Veils, Mr Apples, Mr Spices, Mr Cups, Mr Mirrors, Mr Fires and Mr Stones. DO NOT INVESTIGATE MR EATEN. "Mr" and "Masters" does not indicate gender, their pronouns are "it" in the narrative.
When I first started playing I thought all Masters except Pages were terrifying. Now I take every opportunity to bully Fires mercilessly, and twice I've bought virric dreams of a life in domestic bliss with Mr Wines. Today I got this line about Mr Spices:
![]()
"Mr Spices is standing, alone, at the edge of the mud-choked pond, gazing into the water. It is wearing many layers of cloaks against the cold air, and resembles an undertakers laundry basket with feet."
This flute-voiced laundry pile then admits, very dismissively, to have created a monster that goes around murdering people.
and it referred to my darling Wines as a villain. The nerve, honestly.
Also the Stupendium made a 12 minute musical masterpiece that really captured the feeling of the game

Guess who decided to make an avatar version of their Fallen London OC?
I did.
I am particularly pleased with finding a stand-in for my Cosmogone Spectacles.
(Dangerous +6; Persuasive +6; Bizarre +1; Glasswork +1)
Normally I try to play Aryllia as close to her village witch origins as possible, but the Victorian London setting made that a bit challenging. Finally I found a profession I liked for her: Silverer. A person skilled in the craft of Glasswork, who can enter the jungle-like dream-realm Parabola through mirrors and interfere with people's dreams.
My main objective as almost always to minimise harm towards the people around me, which somehow led me to play a weirdly pacifistic run of Ambition:Nemesis. I did originally plan to reserve my murderous intent for the one who was pulling the strings, but I spoiled myself by reading the lore wiki and found out that would inconvenience Mr Wines (to the point of tears!) so, Pacifist run it is.
I'm kinda tempted to cosplay some of the NPCs too. Like my Aunt, The Jovial Contrarian, His Amused Lordship, The Repentant Forger, Jack-of-Smiles, The Lady in Lilac, or The Manager of the Royal Bethlehem Hotel. Oh, or the Dean of Xenotheology - my favourite part of assembling the board of directors of my railway venture is seeing her and the Tentacled Entrepreneur do what I think might be xeno-flirting? They seem to get along quite well.
I ship it
I wish I could do The Tentacled Entrepreneur, but TW doesn't have sufficiently squid-like face items.

You still have a hard time recognising which gurgle means agreement, but you know when the tentacles are waving assent.
The Dean of Xenotheology draws something in the margins of her papers. Is that a sketch of the position of the Entrepreneur's tentacles? The Entrepreneur notices and shifts its tentacles into a new, visibly more menacing configuration. The Dean giggles abruptly. The Entrepreneur also shakes. Evidently Rubbery Men can laugh.

FALLEN LONDON YEAAAHHH
I've been playing for since December 2023 - having a great time making way too many alts and OCs for it.

Omg you're actually maintaining several alts? I have one, and I constantly forget that it even exists unless I urgently need to do social actions.

Not entirely "actively" but yeah, I'm progressing on them all! I have 6 in total right now. :D I tend to rotate who I'm focusing on unless I have lots of spare time/energy though.

Also a big fan of FL! Been playing on and off for, uh, many years. Though I haven't kept the same character(s). (Tendency to wander off when I get stuck or bored of grinding and then I'd restart a couple years later.)
I have 2 characters I switch between rn, both of whom are loose FL "AU" versions of OCs. My progress is rather slow still, lmao.
I'd love to see any avatar cosplay you do of FL characters/NPCs! Though I will probably only be skimming posts here because I am trying to avoid spoilers for later game content and Ambitions, haha!

I've dabbled in it myself! Haven't opened it in a while, but I got pretty deep into Bag a Legend. Personal favorite characters are Mr Veils, The Jovial Contrarian, Johnny Croak, and The Once-Dashing Smuggler.
Bag a Legend spoilers:
I got real into thievery there. Spent most of my time in The Flit doing heists & befriending Urchins even though it didn't relate to my Ambition at all.
Fallen London's been my brother's special interest for over a decade now though, haha, I played it because of him. He's got six characters he uses, too! He's even completed Ambitions for four of them...

started playing FL december 2023 with Moch, though I swear I had played it once before in the very distant past, gotten confused and dropped it. I cannot find any evidence of this, it would have been back during MSN days... but the moment I started playing it again I was having the weirdest dejavu with lack of dejavu.
anyways, delightful game, current fave thing to poke around on and make terrible choices with.

I love FL! I've played off and on for a few years, and I just backed their Kickstarter for the TTRPG. I'm hoping I can convince some friends to play it with me when it comes out.
Their standalone games are fun too, and if you like visual novels give Mask of the Rose a try.
