Site Contest Rules: August 2021

Site Contest Rules:
These rules stand for all current running contests, but please make sure to scroll down to each category and check out their own specific rules! If you still have questions, please feel free to ask theme here.
- Contest begins on August 9th at 12:00 PM CHT and ends on August 22nd at 12:00 PM CHT. This is the same time period for users to browse and cheer entries. We will announce the winners on August 23rd. (This means you should not post your entries until the contest begins on the 9th!)
- Include an excerpt or tagline that is about 100 characters long. This will be your leading quote shown in the Spotlight feature!
- Entries must be posted within the appropriate category. Entries posted in the general Site Contest Forum may be disqualified.
- Entry must be your own, not taken or copied from another person.
- Please only post one entry per category at most.
- Entry must be in English. Typos and mistakes won’t disqualify you, just please don’t submit an entry in another language.
- “Joke” entries are not allowed. Please feel free to use humor, so long as it’s not mockery (like an "I hate the Mods!" shirt) or laziness (like a scribble of no shape in particular, or a blank black box).
- Entry must be "complete" when posted, meaning that you should not add to your entry after posting it initially. Minor edits, such as a typo or a small color correction are fine, but adding to the entry may disqualify your entry. You can feel free to submit an incomplete "piece" of an overall story, comic, etc. as that is not against the rules.
- No “bump” posts (made solely to push your topic to the top of the page) or “quest” posts (made solely to fulfill an Hourly Quest) are allowed.
- Please only Cheer once per person, not account. We may disqualify entries that use secondary accounts to Cheer themselves.
- Entries will be judged by number of Cheers from users. In the event of a tie, moderators will Cheer for the tied entries.
- Any failure to comply with these contest rules may result in disqualification. Failure to comply with the standard site rules will result in the appropriate warning, Forum muting, account lock, or ban.
- Winners will receive the exclusive In the Spotlight Achievement and may be included on our Spotlight feature for the logged out Homepage! Winners will also receive the Spotlight T-Shirt and Spotlight Showcase, the latter of which can be given to your Kith over and over again for additional ability points! Finally, each winner will also receive 100 Gems!
This month's theme is Prism Party, so Shay is challenging all artists to enter with a limited color palette based on prism, spectrum, or monochrome! The subject of your artwork can be anything related to Tattered World, as long as it's in the correct color palette.
- Include a link to the full-size version of your art if necessary.
- Feel free to include your watermark, signature, or other recognition.
- You may include multiple pieces of art in one entry, so long as your artwork is posted within the same Forum thread.
- Please indicate at the bottom of your entry whether or not you approve permission for us to share your entry via official Tattered World social media. If you have your own social media, you can provide a link for us to share so that you get the credit you deserve. You do not have to approve permission to enter the contest. This will not be taken into account when determining the winner.
Have you ever wished that your favorite piece of clothing came in your favorite shade of your favorite color? Now it can! This month's theme is Prism Party, so pick an existing clothing item on site to recolor once in prism, spectrum, monochrome, OR to recolor in a full set of colors! This means that your entry can either contain just one recolored clothing item in prism, spectrum, or monochrome; OR you can provide ten recolors of one clothing item in the shades of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, white, gray, and black! Update: you can enter up to 5 separate items if you wish to. Only 1 is required.
- The winner of the Clothing Recolor Contest will also have their recolors submitted to the site and put up for sale alongside the original clothing!
- You may include additional artwork, such as inspirational references or art of the clothing or larger scale views of the clothing, underneath a spoiler tag.
- Create your entry in the Clothing Recolor Contest Forum.

Just to be clear, can our recolor contest entries be one set of items, or do they have to be one single item? For example, I want to enter the consort's set but would I be able to enter the entire set or just, say, the top?

I also have a question :'D
Is it alright to recolor some clothing that we got from the Lucky Venture event? There's one certain item in there that I wanna recolor but not sure if it's included to the ones we can recolor--

[@Rayne] Good question, honestly. I didn't think people would want to recolor a whole outfit, I was just expecting a recolor of a single item. I'll go ahead and update the rules to say you can include up to 5 separate items, so long as they follow the color theme.
[@Kreszia11] Yes! However since those items are not created through the tailoring system, they might be added to the site in a different manner, such as in Shady's shop.

I was also confused about the amount of entries for the recolor contest considering the sets are normally more than one item. Thank you for upping it to 5 pieces for the contest! This clarification really helps :3c

Hiya!
I've got 2 questions:
1. Are we allowed to recolor items created by other users, for example the Illegal Pants created by Voldemortimer?
2. Can we submit the item we choose to recolor in all 3 color types (Prism AND Spectrum AND Monochrome) if we desire to do so? (So to be clear, in this case we'll be submitting 3 recolors of the item we choose to recolor)
Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

[@Ingenuity] Yes, once a user has submitted an item to the site, it belongs to the site rather than the user, so it is available for any user to recolor or edit into a new item. Checking in with the creator is also a good courtesy since they may still be active on the site and interested in making recolors or edits directly on the original file, which is often easier to use than the exported file size on the site! However, we understand that many users eventually become inactive, so this rule is meant to ensure that no items ever become untouchable due to user inactivity. Please also be sure to credit the user when you put up your recolor/edit on the site!
As to the number of items for this contest, I should have expected more of our users, haha! I really didn't think people would want to make so many recolors. ?In this case, I think 1 item in 3 recolors of prism, spectrum, and monochrome is still fitting with the theme so I'll go ahead and give direct approval for that. ?
Good luck!

Thanks for wishing me Good Luck Diana. :)
1. How do I credit the user whose item I choose to recolor?
Let's use Voldemortimer as an example again. So do I add this line in the description:
"Item created by Voldemortimer. Recolored by Ingenuity"?
2. I found and watched the item recoloring tutorial video on YouTube but where can I find the color palettes for Prism, Spectrum and Monochromatic?
Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

[@Ingenuity] Yep, that's a perfect example! We don't have a strict formatting for credits, so long as the username is clearly mentioned in the item description. :)
Prism, Spectrum, and Monochrome also do not have a specific color palette that you must adhere to - 'prism' just means that the item includes every color of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple), 'spectrum' includes black as the main color with prism colors as accents, and 'monochrome' just means the item is colored in black and white. We try not to insist on super exact conformity so that users have more freedom to create what they want. However, you're welcome to copy-paste any clothing images from the site into your digital coloring program like Photoshop/SAI/etc. and use the eyedropper tool to copy exact colors if you'd prefer!
