And like, she keeps asking for warm food...But by the time it gets underwater, it'll be cold and soggy and gross anyways! I mean, Tethys gets around this because everything she cooks is things like fish and sea weeds—stuff that comes from the water anyway! But Dione is here drinking tea, underwater, and eating mug cake, underwater.....
Maybe her secret is that she's got the most powerful magic of the mermaids, but only uses it for eating, because that's a MASSIVE mood.

I just made Dione a vanilla mug cake. I understand the "mug" is necessary to protect the cake from the waves. But I was wondering, how does it taste by the time it gets to her?
