Re: A Casual Fantasy Romp [OPEN]

Isle-folk. So they were on an island? Even with her question of 'where' having been partly answered, she was still confused. Ash shook her head 'no' as her thoughts wandered. "No. There are others smaller than I." She thought so, at least. The sylph fae were indeed smaller. The largest she'd even come across was hardly a foot tall. "Of course, there are also those who're far larger than myself." Larger than her even in dragon form, because apparently fifteen feet tall is considered small for a dragon. "I can see a break in the fog up ahead," She told Ballad after a while of silence, "We'll stop there to rest and eat before moving on again, provided that you want to stick by me after this."

At his "formal title", Ash could't hold back a grin, much less the giggles that escaped from her mouth. Oh, this man was funny indeed. And Kitty? Yes, she did not mind the nickname. She liked cats, even, so she thought it suited her. "Well then, Ballad of Banter, if you would follow me, I will lead you through myself." Her honey gold eyes alight with the prospect of a companion, she turned and took a few steps away. Her solitude in the wilderness had been becoming lonely anyway, she reasoned. In a sing-song tone that wasn't quite an actual song she added, "And when we find a place to rest, once out of this forsaken place, you will eat and drink and sleep. You look in dire need of it, anyhow. May I know how long it's been since you've last eaten?" She still planned to ask him just where it was that they were, it's just that she may have gotten a bit sidetracked. Her goal at the moment was to get this guy back in good health. Then she would ask him, if she hadn't completely forgotten by that point.

    Re: Star's Library

Thank you for the advice. I realized that I could take that paragraph out, I just have been a bit too lazy to do it XD. As for breaks in the story (at least what there is so far, not sure how to continue it) I could definitely do that (and maybe delete that paragraph while I'm at it). Most of my other stories are fanfictions. This and a novel/story that I wrote for NanoWriMo are one of the rare original fics I've put any real effort into, aside from ones that have been lost at some point in time or another. I think I'll add my nano novel here, cause you'd be able to read the fanfics I'm working on right now on, say Fanfiction.net, which I could link to. Maybe. Edit: Maybe even edit the monstrosity that is my "novel" (it's a mess) while I'm at it.

Disbelief-slight mirth?-agreement. Ash gave the young man a wide grin, one that showed a few too many teeth. Not that she'd remembered much of normal human interaction, by this point. It was written in his scent odd-thinking-smells-show-tell-more than eyes or ears, that disbelief, but what he said after he'd agreed had her grin drop faster than a rock. Oh. He must have recognized her as something inhuman, then, to ask such a question. Or perhaps thought that she was nothing more than a figment of his mind. Absently she agreed that this fog could do that to a person given enough time. But a goddess? Of death? No. Certainly not. "No." She drew out the vowel, trying to keep her voice still low and gentle, even as she held out a hand for him to take or deny, "Not death, certainly. You may call me whatever you wish." She would not give her name yet, as he had yet to give his own and, in her brief experience with the world of the fae, dragons specifically, names held power. She'd been told to discover a third name for herself, a hidden one, so that if any dared to control her through Name-magics, they could not. Never mind that she wasn't told how to go about "finding" this name, or if she could just choose one out of thin air and be done with it. Perhaps it was best, then, that she did not learn his true name either. "May I call you Ballad? Or something else, if you prefer. To keep your true name safe. You need not tell me what your true name is."
