[@Orca2Whale] [@CloudedOtter] Nay, Orca, yours was good but I can try to elaborate. So I like to think there are five aspects of the game: Battling, breeding, and forum-ing, hoarding themed pets, and designing as Orca said. What are themed? Long story short, they're special pets found during fests and other occasions that are supposed to be worth a lot (not much now due to underpricing and mass breeding, which is a whole other issue), they basically have a color scheme based on something (ex. Hot Chocolate or Polar Winds), and there's a themed design contest every festival. Every pet has 3 gene and 3 mutation (just known as traits in general) slots, each trait can be None, Carried, or Visible. It's a Punnett square system that I'm bad at explaining. Basically, the more visible traits a pet has, the more it should be worth (but again, the mass breeding problem is making prices go rock-bottom). So that's where breeding projects come in. You breed pets of the same species (I never counted how many species there were) together, male and female to get an egg that will hatch and grow up so it can breed again with another in the hopes of getting better traits and more trait points (Visible traits are worth two trait points each, carries are worth one, and nothing is worth, well, nothing). More trait points = greater worth. The aim is often to get a 6-visible traits pet, commonly referred to as a 6vis. You can design your own 6-vis pet and then begin a breeding project to make that pet a reality, or you can breed a themed pet to get a 6vis, which is often worth more than a non-themed pet. Bragging rights if you breed the first 6vis pet of that theme! And then there are Max Stat breeding projects, basically every pet is hatched with base stats. However, stats (NOT BASE STATS!) can be raised through leveling, equipment, etc. Max stat projects aim to max out a pet's base stats by raising the stats every generation. I think the highest a base stat can go is 100 int, agi, dex, and strength, 2000 health, and I forgot how much mana. This means, the higher the base stats, the higher stats the pet will have when it levels up or you put on equipment. It's pretty complicated so I won't explain it now, there are lots of people who explain it much better than me. Battling is... battling, you can have up to three pets in your party at once, there's a storyline but the site is in beta so it's not finished, but it's still fun. There are elements and stats and stuff that I won't go into. Forums need no explanation. Oh, I forgot to mention that there's this thing called a Genetic Test Kit that you can use on pets. Without it, you cannot see the carried traits on a pet, and they will show up as Nothing traits instead. It's basically necessary for breeding projects. You get a one-time use one when you complete a quest or something, but that's obviously not much help, but there is an Exceptional one that costs a lot of diamonds (premium currency). However there are a lot of users willing to do it for free (Orca and me included). Just check out the 'Groups, Guilds, Clubs, and Services' forum and you'll see a bunch of Free Genetic Testing threads. And then there are avatars (avis) that you can dress up in items that are mostly acquired through fighting bosses during festivals, the wardrobe right now is pretty inconvenient as you have to scroll through pages of items to find what you want, but currently there is an update coming very soon that will make it more user-friendly. Most people on Sylestia are super nice as long as you don't bother them asking for free pets or whatever. If someone says something rude, other people will most likely tell them to stop. Plus the admins are very active and interact with the players, which is great. People love to throw things at newbies as well xD. It's a smaller community but it's great, and Orca and I like to think we're pretty experienced, plus everyone on the forums knows us :P So, yeah! I wrote too much, as usual... But if you ever want to join, let us know and we'll bury you under a pile of free themed pets and avi items :D
