@Alori: In case you were actually curious, I found a little article in which the author seems to believe it just stemmed from a very early book on the C programming language. It's definitely curious that it became so ingrained in programmer culture, but I doubt it'll be on its way out anytime soon. :P And I definitely agree it's cute, I was just always a little taken aback by it at the same time, because I never really grew up hearing anything along the lines of "Hello world" before that. It's definitely a step up from "Hello master" or something weird like that, lol.

Paige, I completely agree! I can't see myself ever being rude to any of them! And I've played significantly fewer Mario and Kirby games than I'd like to admit, but I know Kirby especially is up my alley, there's just never enough time! Also, @Alori and Paige, could you help me understand this? I kind of get the Hello World connection to technology and stuff, especially because it seems like every single beginner program I've had in classes (when programming in C, Verilog, and Assembly language), my teachers have given us a code that just prints "Hello World!" to the screen. Is this some 80's reference or something that I just never fully grasped, from some old movie like Short Circuit or something?
