Description
There are many reasons why an alliance doesn't work out. Perhaps the bond just never sets in, or one or both of the allied parties are not ready, but in the end, when a formerly-allied kith winds up back in the Tatters, there aren't too many questions asked. Typhon is silent on why he and his former ally parted ways. In fact, he's generally silent overall.
When he was younger a storm raged inside his heart, and that fury threatening to boil over made it hard for prospective allies to take a chance on him, not that he cared. Whatever experience he'd had with an ally before, it had either deeply scarred him or had done nothing to help him handle his explosive anger. Whatever the reason, Typhon was not looking for a new ally. Which, of course, in the finest tradition of the narrative of the Stage, meant he found an ally who was not looking for a kith, one who saw the storm inside and was not afraid of the rain.
Rain was at first frightened of the kith, who still saw in him a Stagehand who spied for the Narrator and enforced his rules. It didn't help that the Mawnite growled at her fiercely whenever she dared draw near, which she didn't have much choice in doing given that they met upon the catwalk from which she dispenses the rain. Eventually she realized Typhon was all bark and no bite, and once her fear was gone she quickly whipped the stray kith into shape, being both the firm teacher and gentle mentor that Typhon needed.
