FIC O' SHAME PART I by - Z - won the Writing Spotlight!
The grin Aunt Mari shot him looked as if it were ready to tear the corners of her mouth open. “I got it back,” she hissed. “The Tatters…took a bit of me…and I took a bit of it.”

Paper Butterflies

There’s nothing quite like the joy of bringing a bit of beauty into the world (tagline)

Something I’ve been doing for fun lately is making simple origami—it really helps to pass the time. I need to focus when I’m preparing the paper and cutting it into squares (you need the measurements to be exact, and the cuts to be very precise, or the origami will come out looking misshapen!), but the repetition in folding and creasing paper until it turns into something is so soothing and gives me an activity to keep my hands busy while I watch or listen to something else. And as a bonus, I end up with a cute little paper butterfly!

Here they are, settled on my desk

Oh! It seems they’ve coordinated this evening, and in a colorful pattern too

Some have decided to land on my hands and the tips of my fingers

And a few really like the freshly cut peonies I placed on my desk

It makes me so happy to see the result of hours and hours of making these little paper butterflies. And arranging/posing them and taking pictures for this was also surprisingly fun!

Did you know: a group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope 🦋 I think that’s so lovely. Maybe I could recreate the sight of standing in the midst of a bunch of butterflies, the fluttering wings and the myriad of colors, a beautiful, flashing, ever-shifting display—ahem, uh, sorry. Got carried away there… um, anyways!

I give permission to share the entry on TW social media. I mean, who doesn’t like pretty butterflies?

This is a much better use of paper than as a replacement for decent pottery. Plus, all the butterflies remind me of an homage to the Goddess of Spring... Is this a way to seek her blessing?
