Yes, the max was removed - I don't remember when...my active kith has Guard at 543 and counting! As far as I know there aren't any benefits, though I've been away so there might have been a change there. I think it was implemented so that if you wanted to use additional items past the 400 mark you would still see a reflection of that in the stats.

For the books vs other items, maybe I can help answer.
Books I believe are still stacked at 4 pts for common, 8 for uncommon and 12 for rare, while toys I believe are 3 for common, 6 for uncommon, and 9 for rare. I believe its like this because their used to be significantly less books than toys, but I'm not sure if that is true anymore.

As for food, that is a little different since we have cooking now- cooked foods give significantly more points than uncooked food- also there is a lot more food than other items in general, so they tend to not give as many points.

Yeah, I knew books have always had a lot of points. Maybe because we have the new bookshop with more books the numbers are a bit too high. *shurgs* math
I thought the points were a bit high for books way back when too so I could just be very picky haha

I noticed before I allied with my second Kith, playing Paper Planes stopped giving stat points...

Oh I dunno what happened then... I never kept count but none of my stats with my first Kith were over 800 points, and that's including books and such O:

Once you max at 400 for power, guard and speed games stop giving out attribute points- you can still earn these points from cooking and quests though!
