From your Inventory (which you can find under Account > Inventory > Main) select the item you want to give to your kith, food for example. When you click on it it opens another menu and from the second dropdown menu you can then select "Feed to Vicar" which is the last option. The same method applies to books and toys, with the actions called "Read to Vicar" and "Play with Vicar" respectively. Once you used that specific item on a Kith you can't use the same item twice, meaning your Kith can't eat the same food twice etc.

Go to your inventory, click on an item, and click the drop down menu that says "Move to Locker" and then select feed/play/read etc. Some items that arent food books toys are also used this way.

To make coffee you first need the recipe for it, which can be bought in Jay's shope (General Store). Then you need to learn it by clicking on it in your inventory and selecting "learn this recipe". Once you've done that you can check the required ingrediences in the Dormitory Kitchen. (You can find the kitchens under the Tab Create > Cooking > Dormitory Kitchen. Under the Tab "known recipes it shows you all the recipes you have learned for this kitchen und when you click on one it shows you exactly what you need to prepare that dish.).

Also is it possible to get a food say salad without having to make it

To give someone something on their Wishlist, you have to have the needed item in your main inventory (and be willing to give it away!)
Food and Clothing are both items you usually have to make. Sometimes, some quests will reward Food or Clothing. If it's something you really want to get a hold of for a quest or something, you can try putting it on your Wishlist. Crafting items will increase your skills in those areas (unlocking new materials or recipes, iirc) as well as giving your kith a point in one of their skills.
