What’s with the possibility of fusion-on-fusion combat? Will there just be none? I’m asking because if Aster encounters Atticus, due to Atticus’ dislike of unearned powers and Aster having numerous powers that he didn’t earn, they might get into a fight, especially since Aster has a temper.

I think we've discussed it a bit in the Discord, but rules haven't really been hashed out. It seems possible that some characters may wanna fight each other so that's a thing that can happen. (If this is a thing you'd prefer to avoid, I'm sure that can be worked out, too.)
I think the feeling was that if it got to the point where one might maim a player's character, we'd want to clear that with them first. (Also, check the Caution List on Discord to see if any combat-related action falls into anyone's "Don't" or "Warn Me" lists.)
Spelling out at least some loose rules about combat might be a good idea, though.

tbh I fully expect some characters to have disagreements!! (we've already talked about how there's a chance that Kazuya might immediately try to destroy Turing, it just....wouldn't work....) and how they try to handle those disagreements is, to some extent, up to the characters, but my feelings on this and the general feel I've gotten so far:
A) it's usually gonna be a good idea to leave it up to the other person what happens to their character -- you can have your character attempt to do things, but you always leave it open to the other whether it succeeds. So like, for example, you wouldn't say "Aster punches Atticus in the nose and breaks his nose," obviously; you'd say that Aster tries to punch Atticus in the nose and it'd be up to Moth if Atticus gets hit in the nose or if he easily dodges.
B) this is part of what the out-of-character chat is for, I think! If things are coming to a head between two characters, the players can be talking in the chat and making sure they're both on board for this direction.

Agreed with those before me, haha! I love fights in rp so I'm gleefully excited for some fights to break out! As long as everyone involved is cool with it, and posts are phrased in such a way as Shazz mentioned above, I think we're good.

-walks in 80 years late;;-
Alright so uh last night the possibility was raised of pieces of one universe cropping up in multiple zones -- for example, some of Gwen's toxic forest appearing in zones that don't even touch her zone -- and of three or more zones/universes getting meshed together in places, rather than just two.
Also, Static's zone is going to consist mostly of sprawling, maze-like caves that are full of magic and weird but mostly harmless creatures. And then it was suggested that those caves could actually spread across the entire map, connecting/combining with multiple zones, and possibly even collapsing in places and causing big patches of broken ground on the surface and I,, love this,,
Ssssso I thought I should bring it up here?? In case people want to discuss it further, I guess? (And if this does become a thing I just want to make it clear there is no need for the caves to connect to/be underneath every zone, in case anyone doesn't want that for their zone ^^; )

I love the cave idea- its such a good way to easily connect zones if we want to bring groups together, or subsequently break groups up through cave ins! I really love it a lot!!

I love having the caves sprawling underneath a lot of areas - especially in the case of causing cool collapses above ground in different areas. :D

(I'd totally love to have some caves connect to either Jay's forest or Jay's abandoned city, totally not just because I could fill those caves around those areas up with Ghost Rocks and maybe a Golem 👀💦)

Miteby brought this up in the summary but, since there's been a lot of questions on the Discord about The Mechanics Of How The RP Will Start, I thought it might be good to go into that discussion more here!
We'll be split into roughly even groups, with a few different threads for the different groups. As far as I know, this is agreed upon!
General consensus still seems to be for randomised groups, both to avoid "picking teams," and to let the characters meet folks they might not have considered otherwise! (and I feel like if any issues with this crop up, it'd make sense to make accommodations on a case-by-case basis, but randomisation seems like the best default to me!)
Where do our characters start?
This hasn't really been discussed in-thread! A couple folks were originally imagining starting in their home zones and then running into others as they explore, while others were imagining us getting sucked into the fusion world and appearing in a random place.
One argument in favour of random placement was that for a lot of characters, starting in their home zone would make it much harder to justify exploring and meeting others, since it feels less like "how did I get in this strange place?" and more like "what's wrong with my home?" Encountering familiar elements later makes them feel more like what they are, a weird copy, and appearing in an unfamiliar part of the world makes it more obvious that you're not in Kansas anymore.
(I'm definitely in favour of semi-random placement myself! Semi-random in the sense of like.... making sure you don't end up in your home place, but otherwise random)
The threads might be location-based???
So the current idea, as I understand it, is that there would be a thread for Zone 1, and any time anyone enters Zone 1 they move to that thread. We also talked about making Zones rather large, encompassing multiple areas, so that we wouldn't be starting out with like, 20 different threads.
As far as I know this is consensus as of yet, but hasn't been discussed much.
I could see an argument made for threads to be group-based rather than location (e.g., Group A is in this thread as they travel through the world, and if you meet up with Group A, you post in this thread, if Pellam wants to leave Group A and join Group B he'd move to post in Group B's thread) but I can also see places where this might make coordination awkward and would mean needing to keep up with other threads more closely.
At the same time, I can problems arising with the Location-based threads if Zones are relatively large -- for example, if Zone 1 covers the forest and the castle, it'd be easy to have two or three groups of people in Zone 1 at the same time, without them necessarily being able to run into each other. If you wanted to keep Only One Thread For Zone 1, you could run into the issue of several groups talking around each other in the same thread, it seems like?
I guess one more option is sort of a compromise -- making location threads as they arise, based on where groups are. So you could start out with a thread for the castle and surrounding area for a group that starts near the castle, but if a bunch of people split off to explore the forest, they make a separate thread for the forest; that sort of thing?

(OKAY I THINK THATS.... EVERYTHING THAT CAME UP... im sure I'll think of more later but FOR NOW THATS IT)
