so with the latest update we know witch is wolf's grandson (which, i was really hoping they'd be lesbians but this is almost as good) and the biggest question i'd like to know is: who effed wolf?
i've thought for a while now that wolf and hero both look like oni behind their masks - japanese ogres kinda. this would explain all the japanese based clothing wolf once handed out for her hourly quest, and if you look, they both have similar pointed ears and funky skin tones, both things oni have. but the thing is - witch looks like a pumpkin scarecrow.
solve for variables:
yokai + x = y
y + z = pumpkin scarecrow witch?????

I actually read the pumpkin as a mask - more of a "bag over head" style mask, but... We do see all the characters wearing their masks at the start, so it made sense to assume for me. (Maybe it's easier to make sure it doesn't fall off, since the witch is apparently a child?)

For some reason I'm thinking Narrator's one of Witch's parents. I thought this before the last post, but the whole thing where he's noted as liking Witch's mom is... I dunno, makes me wonder if there's more to the story.
I'm also *pretty* sure the pumpkin thingy is a mask, for what that's worth, but proof'd be spoilers.

Gonna go ahead and list all my crackpot theories in one place.
- Witch's dad is Hero. (Wolf is Witch's maternal grandma.)
- Witch's mom died because of the Tatters. (Possibly while trying to find an alternative method for driving them back.)
- Narrates might be Witch's grandpa or something?
- None of the other Roles we've heard of are actually dead. Their Thespians were rewritten into other characters, erasing and "killing" the previous ones. (...I admit this is probably just wishful thinking on my part.)

i love these! i also think the pumpkin bag is a sort of mask, but it looks a lot like the kind of sack you would toss over a scarecrow head but IDK that could just be an aesthetic thing. it's hard to tell if it's his skin that's purple or if it's meant to be light from his magic cauldron....
with the latest post i would like to add that the narrator sounds like someone who was in love with witch's mom/wolf's daughter, but isn't witch's dad for whatever reason. and that this mysterious "dollmaker" is or was wolf's partner, aka witch's grandfather - being the reason they convinced the narrator to let witch live

Same, Mask, same. I don't want all these folks to be deaddead. And given the separation between Role and Individual (as in Witch the role is female, but Witch the child is male) I am hanging on to a sliver of hope that that it's just the roles that are dead.
On the other hand, we have Hero. Who...sure is full of holes and seems to have come back from the dead a lot. May be undead? Not alive in the conventional sense? ??? So, there are other, weirder, options for the dead roles.
