I get most of my reading done during breaks at work. People there think I'm weird for having actual books.

Not ready anything right now, too busy, but at some point I would like to reread His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik.
It's an alternate history about the Napoleonic Wars but with dragons.
As far as I'm concerned A+ premise right there.

I'm not usually too crazy about alternate histories or military/war novels, but heck if I love dragons. I read the first book, enjoyed it well enough, and then really liked the second and how it dealt with dragons' sentience/sapience and place in society. Unfortunately, I could see a lot of plot twists coming (such as Temeraire's species), and I don't feel particularly motivated to read the third book.
I was marathoning through the Dragonriders of Pern books, since they are apparently the dragon books to read. I got pretty sick of its heteronormativity, casual sexism, and messed up view of consent. (That F'nor and Brekke scene, anybody?) I kind of just quit out of apathy during book eleven or so, before I even got to the one with queer women in it. Still, it's pretty genre-defining and I wish I could find a series that took up its mantle.

I think the Pern books are so iconic just because they were the first popular dragon books, and for a long while just about the only option.
They are definitely products of their time, though, and for all the author talked about championing women's rights.... she definitely grew up in another age and culture, and it shows.
Still I tend to view them as historic artifacts and then it becomes a "see how far we've come" instead of a "ew, no!" which helps a lot.

I haven't read it in quite a while, but The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul by Douglas Adams is just fantastic. I don't think I ever got around to finishing the first book in the series, but seeing the Netflix show based on it has reminded me I want to pick it up again.
(I found the Netflix show to be...alright, but I think I prefer the books.)

Apparently I missed the last few Discworld book releases, so I'm playing catchup with those.
Just started "Snuff".
