Once Upon a Time (Let's tell a story together!)

Has anyone ever played this game before? When I was a kid it was for long car rides, and disagreeable family dinners where my brother and I needed something to stop us from fighting, but now it's something I do when I get together with writer friends. Group storytelling is actually a very old tradition in a lot of cultures. It's kind of like improve, but for writers. Our goal is to write one coherent story together.
Here's how it goes:
1. The first line of the story is "Once upon a time..."
2. Someone tells what happens next.
3. Then someone else goes.
4. We decide when the story has reached a good end.
I'll update every once and awhile so we have an easy to read, full page of the story. Anyone can join in as long as they're paying attention.
Restrictions:
1. Minimum is one word
2. Maximum is three sentences.
3. Like in improve, you cannot immediately dispute what the person before you says.

The Story so Far:
Spoiler
Once upon a time...
In a kingdom not really that far away, that was not even really a kingdom, and, to tell you the truth, it really wasn't all that long ago, there lived a bandanna-rocking Medusa, who loved her artwork very much. In fact, she loved her artwork so much that she decided to marry it. Except no one can really marry art, it's a concept not a tangible being, so she decided to marry an artist instead.
The medusa went on a search for an artist who could make as beautiful artwork as the one she wanted to marry. Alas her first, second and third dates weren't successful. On her way home from the third date, she saw a street performer making those planetscape images by spraypainting over bowls and coffee cans in just five minutes, which impressed her considerably!
Seeing that all her first dates had simply talked about themselves constantly and paid no heed to their art, she was nervous at first to approach another artist again. So instead of talking to this performer, she chose to just watch along the sidelines instead. That was, until something incredible happened that stole her heart completely.
He looked at her. And immediately turned to stone.
In turning to stone under her gaze, the artist had become a sculpture of the medusa's own creation- a work of art in its own right. She was enraptured. The artist's audience.... not so much. Some fled left, others fled right, some... applauded with glee, disbelieving that it could be anything other than part of the performance. Suddenly, all eyes were on her.
The medusa immediately found herself unbearably shy, for she'd never been much of a performance artist. With tears in her eyes, she wrenched her gaze away from the masterpiece she had created, and fled from the scene, such leaving her lovely statue behind.
Safely home and exhausted from her flight, the medusa tossed her rockin' bandana to the floor, and curled up in a careless heap on her bed. Tired though she was, sleep eluded her. Her thoughts were all a flutter, and images of her stone love, abandoned and lonely, circled through her mind tirelessly.
