Starting to make proper references for the Rain's family. We'll start with the parent she actually gets along with, her mother Snow!

Snow is rare on the Stage, but because creating it is such a labor-intensive task there are almost always multiple snows. Rain's mother is one of these Snows, often called the Bleak Snow to differentiate her from her colleagues. Even though she is not often needed to fulfill her Role, she does practice runs weekly and helps create other types of weather behind the scenes.
Snow raised her three children largely alone, though her family tried to help her wherever they could. At first she thought the Scoundrel was a lost soul only in need of love and a warm home to return to, but he never stopped his wandering ways even as their family grew. She eventually saw him for what he was, and knew that he would never be the partner she needed or the father that her children deserved. When the Narrator no longer called the shots, she officially cut ties with him, though she remains far more sympathetic towards him than her children.
While she is happy all of her children secured good Roles, she was absolutely against the Rain being chosen for her Role. She tried to plead for the family to pass over her daughter as the broken straw that sealed Rain's fate was a fluke, but the elders saw it as a sign. Giving up her daughter to the most demanding and in-demand solo weather Role was the hardest moment of her life, especially since it came so soon after the accidental death of her brother.
While she has no grandchildren yet, she dotes on her daughter Rain's allies, affectionately referring to them as her "grandkith." She was cautious towards them at the start, but quickly warmed up to them when she saw both how much Rain adored them and how much they improved her life. She's teased her other children about allying with kith themselves, which neither seems inclined to do. She merely sighs wistfully and expresses hope for more grandkith in the future.

Next we have the Rain's estranged father, the Scoundrel. ![]()
The Scoundrel's early life was a tragic one. After losing his family at a young age he was cast as an Urchin, meaning no one could take him in as their own. He was taught cloak and dagger methods by the thieves and charlatans of the day and learned how to hone his natural charisma into a tool that could get him out of whatever sticky situations his dexterity and cunning could not. Though he had many teachers and mentors he never had a family. They were all too jaded to grow attached to a young upstart rogue or too old to try to forge such a bond. Because of that, he grew up largely alone without the love and support of a parental figure or friends.
When he grew up and garnered some fame as one of the most skilled thieves among the minor villain Roles, he earned the Role of the Scoundrel. He was called upon to act whenever a play needed a nuisance, and he was very skilled at causing these. He took delight in tripping up the heroes and sidekicks, leading them astray or swiping their all-important gear and sending them on madcap chases. He also took the spotlight for short and very brief stories, one of which cast him in a slightly heroic light for once. In it, the Narrator arranged his meeting with one of the Stage's many Snows, having him "win" her by using his cunning and guile to navigate the challenge set by her family in service of the Narrator's plot.
It's unclear if he ever fell in love with Snow, truly. Because he never had a healthy relationship in his youth he did not know how to cultivate one as an adult and he chose not to learn even as they began to grow their little family. As a partner he was indifferent but as a father he was cruel, tricking and teasing his children for his own amusement and hurting their feelings just for the sake of doing so. Despite this he still tried to protect them in his own roundabout way, teaching them how to fight and trying to make them self-sufficient with tough love lessons to varying degrees of success.
As one of his most common foils was the Hero, he became skilled with the swordbreaker dagger which he would use to catch an opponent's sword and throw them off-balance before running away. Though this isn't as efficient as simply running away he prefers any tactic that has the added benefit of annoying or inconveniencing his attacker. The more upset he can make them, the better.
When Snow broke things off with him, he was genuinely surprised. She'd always been the one left behind, which meant she was always right where he'd left her to return to. With that single anchor suddenly gone and all of his children unwilling to have any sort of relationship with him, he has found himself alone again. He says it doesn't bother him. However he truly feels, he's earned this himself and unless he takes great effort to change, he will remain alone for the rest of his life.

She's a very anxious little thing even by kobold standards which is probably partially because she's an urd, a winged kobold (who are believed to be the chosen of the god that betrayed the kobold god) and is shunned and distrusted among her fellows because of this.
