Agreed! Glad we're on the same page <3
@Sefria, PGS stands for Power/Guard/Speed! Each quest always increases one of these stats, but I don't remember which one it is for the Rest and Relaxation quest, or I'd mention the specific stat *_*

Huh. No wonder those three shoot up so much faster than health/energy/reason. Did not know that.
Cool!

Yeah, no shamming here. Heck, I have taken my fair amount of items from the lab while the bar was filling because I needed them for quests and stuff. I think Bear was more concerned that people were like "WHY IS EVERYONE LETTING THIS EXPIRE WE CANNOT LET THIS EXPIRE??!?!" instead of noticing that doing just that helped.

Except that I was specifically pointing out *starter hairstyles*, which aren't given out by Kei's daily quest (most hairstyles being donated are the common ones you can get each day, but starter hairstyles are usually uncommon or rare, I believe). And the people donating them probably don't realize that they're used later on, and will be really annoyed when they find out they have to fork over 3k for a Red Messy Hairstyle that they originally got for free.
I wasn't a fan of the original "Why are you not letting items expire we need those for the experiment meter" post because it really did come across as shaming/misleading. Just saying.

I tried so hard to find ways to get my Kith to something other than Curious but half her stats were already into the 200s and nothing was changing so I gave up and read her a book so she'd finish the first level up. *sigh* I may see about getting gems for a Change of Heart later, although it kinda feels like cheating...

I feel like both posts were meant with no ill intentions. On one hand, you wanted new players to not miss out on future quests, but also people wanted people to be aware of the experiments, since a bunch of people didn't realise about it!
<3 Everyone's so nice for not wanting new players to miss out. It's nice! :D

Oh yeah, I should probably also confess something hah.
I confess that I'm in class right now, on the forums instead of paying attention. But it's a class I understand, so woo!

I can imagine the frustration when you realize something you assumed was worthless actually isn't. But there are SO MANY ways to avoid this - if somebody ignores them all, I don't think you can save them from themselves.
1. You can consult the wiki or ask around the forums if your starter items are indeed useless before getting rid of them.
2. You can take them back from Lycus at any time. It's really the golden rule of ethics in action: they will always be available as long as newbies keep donating them, and nobody will have to pay for them, so if you have them in your inventory, donate! If they expire before anyone grabs them, then this just means there was a surplus: the entire community has generated more copies of a given item (i.e. more players have joined) than it can use (i.e. give to Kei).
3. You can just decline the quest. There's no need to spend shards to complete it because the reward is lab fodder anyway. Yes, I know some players are completionists who never decline quests. Theoretically, we might end up with deficit instead of surplus. I don't think it has already happened, precisely because starter items don't exactly get sniped from the lab. But if it ever happens...
4. I might be opening a can of worms by mentioning it in this context, but: according to Diana, multiple TW accounts are explicitly allowed. In fact, the only way to abuse this that I can think of is funneling starter items to the lab. Even so, you physically can't speed up Lycus' research past 24-25 hours per experiment, and that's if you're REALLY trying, possibly even using bots to register a ton of e-mails every day - pretty sure this is forbidden by other clauses of the ToS. I can't imagine a completionist abusing multiple accounts just to please Kei - wouldn't it break the immersion much more than rejecting the quest? But, I mean, if you're in dire need of a Red Messy Hairstyle right now, this is always an option.
Confession: I am a shameless virtual economy nerd.
