What's your Tattered Weave Gameplay Loop?

In other words, what is your typical routine when visiting the site? An example could be something like:

First, I check my notifications and reply to threads/post in the news, then I read & reply to mail in my inbox, then I play games for 10 minutes, then I do my daily quests, then I do my hourly quests, etc.

The reason I'm asking is because the arrival of the Everstorm event and the new tailoring feature makes me feel like I'm always coasting by on a few thousand shards. At times when there were limited run quests, too, I would have to rely on friends to cook dishes for me or hunt items in the shop to repay them later. And I'm glad there's a helpful, kind community here, but I want to make my play time more efficient so that I can have more shards and resources (cooking supplies & levels, extra shop keeper shelves, etc.) to help out others like I've been the recipient of in the past.

By no means does anyone have to give away all their trade secrets. But maybe we can share ideas to keep the game fun while getting a lot out of it (e.g. I'd rather not continually play Paper Airplane for hours on end since that could get boring, but I could definitely get a lot of shards that way).

For starters, I think doing as many hourly quests as I can per day with items I already have on-hand would be a good starting place.

I think this is a really good topic!!! I've had tons of thoughts about this, wondering what the best way to support newbies is, and whatnot. There's a ton to do, especially when you first join, so how do you prioritize?

It really depends on what it is that you want. When I first joined I had no idea which direction to go - kith, clothes, kitchen, quests??? (???)

I realize now that getting the kitchen completed was waaaay less important than I originally thought. There are some key recipes and tools that are nice to have, but honestly it would have been a bit smarter to just rely on folks that already have kitchens completed to cook stuff for me.

And as far as the EF kitchen goes, there's like nothing I could make there that's necessary for any quest, so I'm leaving that on the back burner.

And while I like to tailor my own things, it would be cheaper for me to ask other master tailors for help (eg, though I've grinded [ground?] to level 8, it took 40,000 shards, and to get to level 10 to make the neckphones I want for my gallery, I'll need another 20-30k :'D )

Right now I'm focusing on my gallery/wearable items. I try to get through as many hourly quests as possible to get to the high-payout ones, and when they're not coming, I grind :'D Then I can actually pay for the things I want.

Kith are another category, but I usually just give them stuff when quests ask. Not a huge priority for me personally.

For my daily run around: I jump into quests, hop onto the games forums for a few shards, and these days check out new event posts. If I'm lucky I can get a good volley going in the games forum and we go back and forth. And I usually post stuff I don't need on the MP at the end of the day.

Those high-payout quests are where it's at, though. I try to keep Andre, Robin, Skyler, and Miranda on rotation as much as possible.

First thing I do every day is go through my Dailies and then go through my notifications, since Notifs are usually where I'm needed most. Then I try to do my hourlies to make up some shards, and go through as much of the forum as I can to be a good mod. At least once a week I read the entirety of TW, so if you've posted it, I've read it.

And then every so often I go crafting hunting. I like to have my cooking and tailoring maxed out and everything completed so I don't have to worry about when I suddenly need a thing, but it's difficult to keep up sometimes when I work two jobs.

First thing I do in a day is cleaning out my notifications. At current forum speed about 20-30 threads get replies while I sleep, so I check all of those. (Often in bed on my phone)

When I wake up properly and get on my laptop I change my TW outfit and hopefully remember to do dailies, as well as clearing and new notifs. (Assume I clear notifs as they come from this point)

On site, I tend to mostly just do quests or restock stalk for my collection. I've been taking a seat back during this event as keeping up is hectic enough and I wanna save my energy for remnant release.

Aw, you are a good mod, Boo. :D A great mod, even!

I kind of start my TW day all over the place. Typically notifs and messages get my attention first because they mean something interesting is happening. After that, I just kinda... do... stuff?

How I think it should go from here on out is:
1) Do I have enough shards to do dailies?
a. If yes, do dailies.
b. If no, play games for 5~10 mins
2) Do hourly quests
3) Browse & post on the forums for a bit (that's my fave part)
4) Misc. other stuff related to my current goals like crafting, kith raising, etc.

Whenever I am busy IRL it really throws off my TW routine. Goodbye NPC friendships! Here's hoping I can stick with this pattern.

So far, just doing the hourly quests I immediately have the items for is working well. Any quests I can't do, I decline before the hour is out and start over with a fresh set. Sometimes I will grab a ~500 shard or under item, but I try not to spend too much in that regard.

My routine is similar to the others. I would like to be a higher level in the kitchen, but I am high enough that I can make a lot of what the hourly quests need, so that is good for now.

As far as making shards go, I do think Kochab's point about focusing on profitable hourly quests is important. If I am unsure how worthwhile a quest is, I check the wiki page to see what kind of reward it gives.

What an excellent thread!

I've been trying to determine which parts of the site I want to really take as my own; kith raising? games? crafting? Right now, I'm doing a little bit of everything.

My routine:

1) Check notifications. Notifs for trades, my giveaway thread, and the Lycus's Lab pinglist take priority.

2) Dailies

3) Hourlies, though I decline or cancel most of them (this is where my kith gets the most attention)

4) What I'm trying to implement into my routine: more forum browsing! I've been neglecting the social aspect of this social site and I miss reading the forums, so I'm trying to spend a little bit more time interacting.

5) play games if I need shards (which I always do but I'm so tired of games at the moment) or sit on a shop that carries what I want at the moment.

This thread is really helpful! I've been here a couple of weeks and I feel as though I've been running around trying to do a bit of everything and getting super confused XD. I don't want to feel I'm missing out on anything, especially when there's an event happening, storylines to catch up on in the forums, and limited items to catch, but it's hard to work out what else is important to do, and what is peripheral, eg which quests are vital and which aren't, how important it is to level up tailoring etc etc.

.... Reading this I've realised I've been completely forgetting to check the daily and hourly quests :( screams and flails arms Guess I'm not the best at multitasking XD

Thanks so much for all these suggestions c:

If you're ever having trouble keeping your shards going, just do quests. Save up enough shards and basic items for quests, and then you'll soon find it's hard to dip below 50k (unless you just bought an entire leveling system for a new thing, in which I'm down to 30k now.)

I'm glad this thread is helpful. I've been enjoying reading about how everyone spends/wants to spend their Tattered Weave time and picking up some pointers. As a bit of a measure, I had probably 2k shards when I started this thread, and now I've got 9k. I'm not trying to min-max my shard gains, but I feel like if I keep this up I'll have a nice little security net going. :P

[@stopboorider] When you say to save up basic items, do you mean to buy them, get them solely from dailies, or some combination thereof? I'm guessing you mean stuff like cleaning supplies, dyes, etc. that are often asked for on quests too? I feel like the longer I've done quests, the more I get a feel for what items are commonly asked for in quests.

Combination of. Just get used to knowing which quests ask for which things and pay out shards, like the cereal quests from Jay and the jar quests from Lycus. I tend to keep a supply of both on hand. It's harder now days with so many items on the website to get what you're looking for out of dailies, but those can cycle up to get you big payouts as well. (Such as leveling books up with Skyler to the most expensive versions, then waiting for Lycus to pay you so, so much for them)
