OK lycus is gonna get hurt with these science shenanigans. there's dirt and rust e v e r y w h e r e including his labcoat, he's holding some strange liquid emitting a yellow smoke RIGHT UP TO HIS FACE in his friendly pic, and - is that mold on the whiteboard?
not to mention he starts stripping when you get to know each other.

Shhhh, Lycus is a great scientist he would never practice bad lab safety practices....the concoction is put away once he takes off his lab coat, its all good...

Obviously he needs to stop asking for pans and start asking for cleaning supplies.

Admittedly, I always assumed the marks on his labcoat were something like scorch marks rather than dirt.

Two words: Sentient Labcoat.
The coat has absorbed all the various spills, burns, dirt, rust, etc. and has mutated into its own lifeform. Lycus took it off when he realized what was happening and has been trying to train it like a Kith. It can get lonely in the lab and a labcoat is one thing he figures he can understand completely. Except the coat has ideas of its own. Lycus could be in trouble...
