The funny part about sleep is I'm actually a narcoleptic so people usually assume I'm well-rested but man does it have its inconsistencies.
I've been playing with the tutorial buttons, the are so in depth! I've also been trying to figure out how to ping users in the forums if that is possible/polite, and trying to find out more info about these fancy contests I see, so perhaps I need to click that tutorial button a bit more!

Oh when you are writing the post there’s a little “Tag” button along with the “bold” and “italicize” buttons and whatnot. Or you just type it yourself by using the @ symbol like you would normally but then put [brackets] around the whole thing. And I can’t really speak for everyone but I like being pinged when I’m mentioned cuz then it’s in my notifications and those are easy to manage.

As for the site contests I’m not too experienced in them so there’s probably someone else here who can explain them better than me :P

For pings - I wouldn’t worry about annoying people unless you’re spamming like 10 pings to a person at once. You can turn off being alerted to pings in settings, so if people are annoyed by them they can always turn them off. :D

Anyway feel free to ask if you need any help or advice with anything at all. :D

Oh I missed the site contests thing so heres some words on that too.

The rules are posted in the site contests forum for checking over! So that might explain a bit. But here’s the usual rundown:

every month near the start we get told the themes for the contest and what categories will be open (so say, avatars and artwork, for example)

around the middle of the month (it’s usually mentioned in the first announce + contest rules) the contest opens for submissions! you can post your entries in the appropriate site contest subforum

once you post, people can vote for you by cheering your submission thread. the most votes in a category wins! (if there’s a tie, staff will break that tie to choose a winner)

winners get a fancy forum title, a tshirt apparel and a fancy toy for their kith (which can be used even if a kith has used that toy before - great if you want The Highest Stats)
