Hello, I'm New!
Tutorial TutorialHello, I'm New! 1
Hello! My name is Azkonarra, but my nickname is Badger. I found this site on another, similar one, and so far I am having loads of fun! I am still getting a handle on the new site and it's controls, so if anyone has any tips for a newbie (especially in the currency-earning area) I'd really appreciate all the help I can get.
Thanks!

Welcome!! I'll go ahead and link My newbie guide real quick as it goes through some of the main site mechanics, so hopefully it will be of some help. As for currency earning the main ways-
Quests- these are kind of hard to get straight away, but as you get to know the main quests it becomes easier over time. Some do give out shards, some items, and as you do daily quests and hourlies your stock will add up over time.
Games- this is the most straightforward way to earn- there are no caps or daily limit so you can play away if you want shards.
Forums- you earn 50 shards per post, limited to one post a minute- so if you are feeling talkative you can browse the forums, or hop over to forum games to get a few extra shards that way.
Kith Activities- if you go to your kith ally page there will be arrow drop downs to assign a task to your kith- choose pick up shards and by tomorrow your kith will have brought back 3k shards! If you have more than one kith the amount decreases with more kith going out, but its a nice little thing you can reassign each day to get a nice boost to your shard count.
Tutorial quest- in case you haven't stumbled upon it yet, there is an intro quest under unique quests that is designed to give a few shards out in the beginning as well!
Hopefully that helps a bit, but if you have any questions at all don't hesitate to ask! Welcome again!

[P.] Hello and welcome!
I'm curious, which site did you come from? TW is my home, but I've got my share of wanderlust. I like seeing what other places are up to.
Glad to hear you're having fun! For earning money, the best way to earn money on the site would actually be through doing profitable quests. Quest rewards are different for each quest. For example, some will let you trade lesser items for items of greater value, thus saving you money than if you'd bought them from the shops, and some will outright reward you shards. By questing wisely and being thrifty with your purchases, you can rack up a lot of shards.
That being said, many of the most profitable quests won't be immediately available as a newbie. There's still some quests you can do for shards, along with quests to trade in for better items, but if you're short on shards you can play games or post on the forums. I'd also recommend using Kith Activities to gather shards, since that's 3000 free shards later in the day.
Some more tips:
Also, there's a lot of free stuff on the site. Users sometimes drop really nice things in Lycus's lab for others to grab for free. Stuff there can get picked up very quickly, but people are also giving away stuff in the Giveaways section. And of course, be sure to fill out your Wishlist with anything that catches your eye - items you need for quests, items for your Kith, cooking supplies, etc.
- The on-site tutorial is a worthwhile read.
- The newbie questline (in Unique Quests) is also helpful for on-boarding and rewards a lot of money!
- Dread's Newbie Guide covers a bunch of site mechanics.
- And if you're lost on anything, feel free to ask either here or in User Q&A! If you're shy or do better with one-on-one help, my PMs are always open. c:
...and now that I'm done with this post, I see that Dread's mentioned a lot of this, haha. Hopefully it was still helpful!

Hi CloudedOtter,
I actually came over from a site called Aywas. It's a pretty decent pet site.
Thanks so much for the extra info---and no worries; I know what it's like to be post "ninja'd" lol.

Hey, welcome! This place is pretty friendly though I'm new myself, so don't be afraid to ask folks for help... the only person I wouldn't go to is me. ;^^ But if you're on the forums enough I'm sure we'll bump into each other. Here's to us both figuring out how this cool little site works!

Thank you! I am pleasantly surprised to be greeted by such a friendly community! I will probably be on the forums quite a bit more after I get the hang of things. :)

Welcome to Hope!
I recognise Aywas!!! This site has a similar avatar system to Aywas, though each clothing item just has a single layer rather than Foreground/Background.
(It’s going to have custom clothing and Kith stages in the future too, if that’s something you enjoyed on Aywas! Plus a shop similar to the custom clothing shop, with usermade clothes available whenever. I’m very excited!)
Anyway, I’ve been beaten to the usual help but do feel free to ask if you have any more questions, and I look forward to maybe seeing your face around the forums! :D
p.s. if you want a mini headstart with avatars at all, I have a newbie giveaway in the giveaway forums that might help a little!

[P.] Ahh, I've heard of Aywas!
By the way, I saw that you listed a Microwave in your wishlist - you actually begin with one! It should be in your inventory. If you can't see it, you can click the Misc tab to filter your items and it should show up there!

Thanks [@Himochi] !
Yes, the customization was definitely my favorite part of Aywas. I always enjoy hopping onto beta sites and watching them progress. I am looking forward to seeing how they implement custom pets/clothes here!
I'll pop over to the giveaway forums and take a look! :D

The Custom Clothing, from what I can tell, will have 3 main types. Private single items for users, bundles of items so you can sell the extras on the forums, and items that are placed into a public shop for all users to access. Pretty similar to Aywas in that regard.
I’m looking forward to seeing the custom clothing a lot!!! I want to commission a lot of artists to fill the public custom shop - maybe I’ll finally try out drawing my own items too?
