Hello! I've posted once here before (for the welcome quest) but never really stopped by to say hi! I'm still figuring out all of the little bits and bobs of the site, though I think I've started to catch on. Some kind users helped me unlock the Enchanted Forest, Coral Reef, and Shadow Stage, so don't worry about that. I'd love to chat!
Also, I've seen a couple people with merfolk tails, and they look frick-diddly awesome. I would think that maybe they spawn in Decked Out or something once you befriend the merchant enough? No idea. If anyone could answer that question, that'd be great~!

Welcome welcome welcome!! The merfolk tails are actually a premium item- you can find them in the Headmasters Office for gems if you want to pick some up! I will warn you they will be cycled out at the end of the month, but don't worry- they won't be retired permanently if you can't pick one up before they leave! Ah, all right! I'll take a look into that, then. I've heard of ways to earn gems without purchasing them, but I'm not exactly sure where to find such quests and whatnot. Do you know where they are?

You earn a gem per day with the daily quest from Nic, or two since you have the EF unlocked with Princess Celariel- if you get the daily high score on a game you also receive a gem for that! Finally, you can always buy gems from other users for shards on the Marketplace forum, so you can check that out as well!

Welcome to Hope!! I guess you could also put the merfolk tails on the wishlist on the off chance that someone has a spare - I've found that people here are also really crazily generous (in a good way!) :)) (and you are of course welcome to grant others' wishes too hehe)

To add onto what's already been said, the shard-to-gem rate tends to be about 150 shards for 1 gem. So, since a mermaid tail badge is 250 gems, that would be about 37500 shards, assuming I mathed right.
Don't be afraid to toss it on your wishlist. Some folks do like to give out even premium items from time to time, and there's nothing wrong with putting something on your wishlist.
Also, if you like chatting, perhaps you'd be interested in the Discord? :D

Hi, and welcome!! The mermaid tail items are so pretty, I wish I could have one of each colour :P But I'm sure once you start getting into doing the quests you'll save enough shards to buy loads of gems in no time!

Wishlists are a great way to go for premium items, but if that doesn't work or you're worried about things disappearing before you can get them, you can always try racking up masses of shards to convert. The mini games under "Play" are spitting out double value right now, so with a bit of patience it's a good way to rack up your shards. Personally I like the Memory game best, but I also find Stumped to be a good zen thing if you have the patience for it.

Awesome! I'll go check out the Discord. I've been farming gems from the minigames (mainly This Little Pig on hard mode) and I've got about 24,000 shards right now - so I'm getting there! I'll stick the tail on my wishlist.
