'lo! a couple of friends of mine introduced me to the site and I signed up on a whim but i've really been enjoying myself thus far :3
question- is there a more effective way of getting quest items, barring leaving a tab open for the GS and checking it every few minutes? that's my current strategy, but as a uni student enjoying the last dregs of my summer hols now, it won't fly once school restarts :/

Welcome welcome welcome!!! As for shop restocking- shops restock every 6 minutes, so I guess the most efficient way to stalk would be to check in right when that 6 minutes starts. Also for hourly quests, there is nonnegative to declining a an hourly, so often I will decline right before the hour is up so I can get a new quest if I don't have the item yet. Also, what specifically might you be looking for? Some quests ask for stuff like cooked food or clothes, which will need to be crafted and you won't necessarily be able to buy them straight from the shop. Anyways, welcome again!

Welcome to Hope! <3
For quests, there are a few other ways to get items sorta. The Marketplace and Marketplace forums can be good for getting items, though sometimes the normal marketplace is lacking certain items due to the number of players right now.
You can also get quest items through dailies and quest rewards - once you get slightly more settled in, often players will have a large hoard of items to use for quests, earned through other quests.
If you're looking for specific items and unable to search the shops, though, making a marketplace thread for those items may be good, to see if anyone will trade them with you!
