New and a bit lost
Tutorial TutorialNew and a bit lost 0
Hello! I’m new here and I must say I’m a bit lost, like how do you gain things to cook/tailor, I’m lacking materials to make most patterns, such as black dyes or ribbons? I tried to look on the marketplace but there’s nothing?

Hello [@Froo] and welcome to Tattered World! There is an excellent Newbie Guide made by Dread that might tackle a lot of your questions. If an item isn't available on the marketplace, the best place to look is the shops, but you can also post on the Marketplace Forum. Chances are it will be seen by someone who can help! :) You'll also build up an inventory of items over time by questing!
I hope that helps!

[P.] Hi, welcome!
The primary source of items will be the NPC shops - everything you'll find on the Marketplace is basically up for resale. In the case of tailoring materials like dyes and ribbons, you'll want to go to Tailored Fashions and on the purple bar right above the items, click "Materials." (And for patterns, you'll find them in the main tab of Tailored Fashions and also the Salon, but I think you've figured that out already.)
Do keep in mind that crafting in TTW operates on a leveling system, where your levels determine which materials will appear in shops (for tailoring) or what recipes will appear (for cooking). Black dye and ribbon are level 1 materials, so they'll appear for you off the bat, but you'll have to level up your tailoring first before you can buy things like silk and satin. (Though there are ways to get around this.)
And of course, if you ever can't find something, you can use Kith Activities to send your kith to buy it for you.
I know that was a lot, so if you need me to elaborate on anything, just let me know!

Welcome welcome welcome! Looks like both Savvy and Otters answered your main question. If you haven't checked it out, if you look under unique quests there is a tutorial questline there that also runs through some of the main aspects (and gives a nice initial shard boost as well).
Welcome again!

Thank you very much everyone :D I’ve found a couple materials and I will slowly level up my tailoring/cooking. I hope I can get my avatar to be dressed as cool as all of yours :o

Levelling crafting is a good idea! I'm looking forward to seeing what avatars you make - your current one is already pretty cool!
If you want some more clothing options while you level tailoring, it might be worth checking out the User Shops too! They sell custom clothes made by other users, with no tailoring involved, so it's an easy way to get some extra clothing to use.
(A lot of the items I'm wearing right now are custom, actually!)

I do! It’s really nice!
Do you have any tips on boosting my stats for my kith? Or turning him white? :)

For raising stats, you'll need to do a combination of using items and other activities on site.
Energy is raised by giving your Kith toys, Health is from food, and Reason is from Books.
The three stats on the left, Power Speed and Guard, are raised by playing games, cooking food, or tailoring clothing.
Minigames should raise the lowest of the three left stats, but won't raise the stats higher than 400. Crafting and quests will give you specific stats, based on what item you craft or which quest you complete.
If you want to raise a specific stat, there are guides to see which stats are raised by different recipes (here) and patterns (here). If you need to raise a specific stat, crafting specific things from these lists is a good way to do it.
As for turning your Kith white, you'll need a Mixed Tattertint for that! There are two ways to get one.
The easiest (but more expensive) way is to buy one from the Headmaster's Office for gems.
However, you can also earn them through regular gameplay. At higher reputation levels, Iris will give a quest that can reward regular colours of Tattertint. You can then exchange those for a Mixed Tattertint at the Bank of Hope, in the Exchange tab!
This does take a while, since you need to raise Iris's reputation to unlock the quest, but it's an alternative if you can't spend real money to buy gems. (Though you can also check the Marketplace forums to see if anyone is selling gems for shards!)
Hopefully that helps!
