Hummingbirds are so interesting, but the males can be so mean! Well, territorial, but the camp I stayed at for field work had a feeder, and this one particular male, who we nicknamed Rufus, was absolutely ruthless and hogged the feeder to himself.
The way they fly is so cool though, completely different biomechanics from other birds- their wings actually move in a sort of figure 8 as they fly/hover.

Guys, are hummingbirds the size of normal birds? Or are they super tiny, since they flap their wings so fast and with so much energy?
Also, are they shiny?

I'm always a little worried about the hummingbirds this time of year. They travel so far!

Sefria, I'm mad headcanon-ing that you are a magical forest witch who is beloved by all woodland wildlife.
I live in the city. I wish we had cute birds. Oh! But there was this famous pigeon who lived on my street. It was super fat and had one leg and everyone called it Mr. Stubs.
But we have street cats more than we have birds.

Ha ha ha, I wouldn't object.
We don't have very many stray cats here, and most people who have them as pets keep them indoors. Outdoor cats tend to fall prey to the local predators pretty fast. Owls, coyotes, and a few of the native wildcats. (There was a huge fuss recently because one of them had been sighted near a playground, but they never did find it to relocate it, so it's still around)

I live in the city both at home and at uni, though the area I live in at home is coastal and next to the countryside - probably about a 10-15 minute car drive from farms?
We moved there from a small village close to the city, which was further up into the mountains. There were so many birds there, and lovely views. <3

Yeah, views are lovely. There aren't any from my house, since all the trees around tower above it and block you from seeing anything, but a brisk ten minute walk will see you up far enough in the hills to have lovely views. When the weather permits it's great picnic-ing country.

I currently live smack dab in the middle of the city, so I don't get to see a lot of birds other than city sparrows (though they are pretty cute). Not much of a view, though luckily the place I'm in at least has some large trees in the front so I get a view of some of the sparrows and squirrels.
